There's a certain heroism in becoming the subject of one's own desire. Like many Afro-American musicians, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, against all odds, embodied this fabrication of the "I", with the particularity, in his case, that it was partly founded on dreams. Even today, almost thirty years after his death, the unheard-of nature of his music and the strangeness that runs through it have lost none of their power to surprise and move. From Jimi Hendrix to Bjrk, from Charles Mingus to Quincy Jones, and including some of today's leading exponents of improvised music, many musicians have been inspired by his outspoken gesture. Beyond the spectacular evidence of his practice of simultaneous instruments, the exceptional aspects of his career and the implementation of his music have yet to be discovered. This book invites the reader into this terra incognita, as well as the listener, with the "ear-opening" of the accompanying CD.
Second-hand book in very good condition (language : french).
