Hard Rock & Heavy Metal collection
These two powerful, energetic musical genres began to emerge in the 1970s. First came Hard rock, with iconic bands such as Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and Aerosmith: characterised by catchy guitar riffs, virtuoso guitar solos and an infectious spirit of rebellion. Metal, for its part, emerged by fusing Hard rock with darker, more aggressive sounds: sharp riffs, percussive vocals and often epic lyrics. Bands such as Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden gave rise to sub-genres such as Heavy Metal, Power Metal and Thrash Metal.
With their uncompromising expression and ability to express a range of intense emotions through a wave of violent energy, Hard Rock and Metal acquired a passionate fan base around the world, and their impact on Rock music continues to this day.
