Progressive-rock, also known as Prog-Rock, is a complex and innovative musical genre that emerged in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It is characterised by elaborate compositions, sophisticated arrangements and extensive instrumental explorations. The big names in the genre pushed the boundaries of traditional rock by incorporating elements of Jazz, Classical and World music.
Several iconic artists have left their mark on the history of Progressive Rock. Starting with Pink Floyd, known for their narrative concepts and innovative use of sound effects, they created legendary albums such as "The Dark Side of the Moon". Others, like Genesis, have crafted intense musical narratives by blending poetry and classical influences into their creations. Jethro Tull, with its blend of Folk and baroque music, brought a unique dimension to progressive rock, as did Emerson, Lake & Palmer, fusing rock and classical music.
