Electro and IDM Collection

Electro is a sub-genre of electronic music that emerged in the 1980s. It is characterised by the use of syncopated electronic rhythms and dynamic bass lines. Electro is often associated with futuristic sounds and elements of Funk. It has influenced other genres such as Techno and House music. IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) is a more experimental sub-genre that emerged in the 1990s. It is characterised by its complex structures, unconventional rhythms and innovative approach to composition. IDM often explores sonic textures and seeks to stimulate the listener's attentive listening.

Main Electro and IDM artists

The Electro and IDM genres have seen the emergence of many talented artists who have left their mark on the history of electronic music. Electro artists include Kraftwerk, Afrika Bambaataa, The Chemical Brothers and the French duo Daft Punk, whose influences include Disco, Funk and house. The latter includes pioneers Aphex Twin (alias Richard D. James), British duo Autechre, Boards of Canada, Squarepusher (alias Tom Jenkinson) and Four Tet (alias Kieran Hebden).
