House Collection
House is one of the most popular sub-genres of electronic music: it emerged in Chicago in the 1980s and is characterised by regular 4/4 rhythms, pulsating bass lines and vocal samples. House music is often associated with partying and dancing, and has spawned a number of derivative styles, such as Deep House and Tech House. It takes its name from the Warehouse club in Chicago, where DJ Frankie Knuckles, regarded as the "father of house", played a key role in popularising the genre.
Emblematic house artists include Frankie Knuckles, Larry Levan, Marshall Jefferson, Derrick Carter, Kerri Chandler and many others. House continues to thrive in today's musical landscape and remains a popular genre for many electronic music and dance enthusiasts.
